The Five Lines
The front page of Prime Market Brief, by email: five lines on what moves today, and one note on the mechanism behind them. Two minutes, before the open. It makes no calls and gives no advice; it shows what is moving and why.
The latest, Friday 30 October 2026
Before the open · Friday 30 October 2026
- Results. Intel −25.2% on $1.31bn against ±7.5% implied; Reddit −21.3% against ±10.8%; Twilio −19.7% against ±11.5%; Roblox −15.9% against ±12.2%; SanDisk −9.1% on $1.04bn against ±6.9%; Amazon −6.5% against ±6.4%.
- Hardware. Dell −11.5% on $89m and HP −9.5% without results; Coherent −9.1%. Technology's 90 traded names −9.5% dollar-weighted on $7.0bn; consumer discretionary's −4.9%, led by Amazon.
- Indices. Futures against Thursday's settlement: Nasdaq −2.59%, S&P −1.10%, Russell −0.56%, Dow −0.05%. QQQ −2.48% on $1.1bn, 4.0% of a normal day; SPY −1.01%; the equal-weighted S&P +0.07%. Of 323 traded names, 100 are higher.
- Defensives. Staples' traded names +2.1%, health care's +1.5%, energy's +1.4%. Regeneron +8.3% and Mondelez +6.4% after results; AstraZeneca +5.4%, Gilead +5.1%, Colgate +4.3%.
- Rates and oil. Treasury futures +0.14% to +0.58%, putting the 2-year near 4.52% and the 10-year near 4.91%. WTI +1.94% to 103.98 after a 102.00 settlement. Gold −1.53%, silver −4.39%.
Why this matters. What trades before the open is positioning adjusting on thin volume, but QQQ has already traded 4% of a normal day. A third morning of results-driven declines in technology, with hardware names falling beside the reporters and staples and health care rising, is holders moving between groups rather than out of the market.
