Myriad Labs Market Research · Morning edition
The memory-chip selling that ran through Monday's cash session has continued overnight, and the bank reports arrive into it. SK Hynix's US listing is down 5.2% on $227m, Micron 3.2% on $398m and SanDisk 4.0% on $288m before the open, with Western Digital, Seagate and Marvell behind them and the Korea fund down 3.3%. Nasdaq 100 futures are 1.2% below Monday's settlement while the S&P contract sits on its settlement and Dow futures are up, so the index spread between what holds memory and what does not is as wide pre-market as it was at Monday's close. Treasury futures are bid from the long end in the first session after the holiday, the bond contract up 0.7%, and the first of this week's bank reports, JPMorgan, Goldman Sachs, Wells Fargo and Citigroup, with UnitedHealth and Johnson & Johnson, are due before the open. CPI is tomorrow at 08:30.
Pre-market · measured 06:31 ET against the Mon, Oct 12 4:00 pm close · futures quotes delayed about 15 minutes
Since Monday's close 182 book names have traded, 78 higher and 101 lower, and the value is concentrated in one place. Memory and storage account for the three heaviest single-stock flows: Micron $398m, SanDisk $288m and SK Hynix's US listing $227m, every one of them lower, and the Korea fund has already traded 6% of a normal day at −3.3%. That is the same trade as Monday's cash session, in which the memory decliners listed before the open extended to the close, carried into a second day. On the other side, UnitedHealth is +2.8% on $107m before its report and Novartis +1.7% on $37m, 22% of a full day's value, which is heavy for a pre-market print; the gold miners are up with gold itself down 0.2%. The sector tilt from what has traded puts health care, materials and financials at the top and technology at the bottom, which lines up with the futures: Nasdaq contract −1.2%, Dow contract +1.0%, S&P contract on its settlement. Treasury futures are bid, led by the bond, and copper is +1.1% with oil flat and gold and silver lower.
Everything in this section has already traded. It shows where positions are being adjusted, on the volume that has traded so far; it does not project the open.

"Traded" is the dollar value traded since the close; "of prior day" compares it with the whole of the previous session. A large move on a small share of a day's volume is a thin market, not a consensus. Listed only above $1m traded.
Options price a ±0.62% day for the S&P 500, ±1.54% for the Nasdaq 100 and ±1.10% for the Russell 2000, from the pre-open chain; the Nasdaq quote carries a 29% one-day implied, far above the S&P's 12%, and should be read as a wide pre-open quote rather than a forecast, as yesterday's narrow one was read the other way. SPY at 778.60 sits on its 778 call wall, where dealers long calls hedge by selling into strength; the put wall is 772 and the volume node 773.28 below, the gamma flip 785 above. Net dealer gamma for SPY reads +$1.9bn while the flip sits above spot; the two readings disagree, as they did yesterday, and the sign convention behind both is assumed rather than observed. QQQ's flip and walls could not be computed from this morning's chain: net dealer gamma reads −$2.2bn with a 760 call wall and a 705 put wall from the stored record, and no flip level. IWM has a 284 call wall, 275 put wall and volume nodes at 281.26 above and 279.10 below, with spot 279.15 sitting on the lower node.

Past reactions: close before the report to close after it, from the held daily closes and Finnhub's report dates. Options price the size of a move, not its direction.
The Treasury's official yields, the real yield and the high-yield spread are dated Thursday 8 October: Friday's closes are not yet in the published series and Monday had no cash market. The VIX (14.84) and the 2s10s spread (0.44 pp) are dated Friday. The model reads the regime as Transition at 51%, with event-gated at 39% ahead of tomorrow's CPI and pathological calm at 9%; one of its inputs, options-chain fragility, was unavailable this cycle and is labelled so in the drivers. Core PCE for August ran 3.0% on the year and 0.25% on the month, with September's payroll gain 29,000 and the four-week claims average 198,000; the 30-year mortgage rate printed 7.40% on Thursday.
The model places the market among five states by how its volatility, breadth, correlation and stress measures sit together. The weights sum to 100%; the largest is the state that best describes how moves are propagating today, not which way they go.
Dominant: Transition. Read at 10:25 UTC.

"Implied by futures" converts the move in the 2-, 10- and 30-year Treasury futures since that close into yield, using a declared approximate duration for each contract. One condition is new this morning: CCC spreads have widened over 20 sessions faster than nearly all of their own run, which is the reading under which downgrades into CCC become likely and CLOs, which may hold only about 7.5% CCC collateral, are pushed toward forced sales into the same market. It joins credit spreads widening, held since 5 October, and together they say the weak end of credit has been repricing for two weeks while the broad high-yield index moved little. Mortgage financing tightening fired again this morning on last Thursday's survey reading of 7.40%. On the equity side, the gamma-squeeze and short-squeeze readings held since late September and 9 October remain, with liquidity thinning flagged on both advances and declines as of Monday. Among company readings, a guidance raise at CME, contract awards at TotalEnergies and Spotify, a dividend increase at Novo Nordisk and an adverse regulatory headline at Citigroup, on the morning it reports, were typed overnight.

| Clo ccc bucket forced selling new since the close | CCC spreads have widened over 20 sessions faster than nearly all of their own run: downgrades into CCC become likely, and CLOs, which may hold only about 7.5% CCC-rated collateral, are pushed toward forced sales into the same market. | 2026-10-13 |

The CFTC release covering Tuesday 6 October, which was not in yesterday's edition, is in this one. In it, leveraged funds sold about 42,600 S&P e-mini contracts net while asset managers added 2,600 and dealers 6,100, with open interest up 1.9%; in the Nasdaq contract leveraged funds and asset managers both added, 5,500 and 4,100, against dealer selling of 14,300 as open interest rose 4.8%. In Treasuries, leveraged funds sold about 103,000 ten-year contracts net and bought about 62,000 bond contracts, with asset managers on the other side of both; the basis-trade share of futures open interest is estimated at 26.6%. In the yen, leveraged funds added 10,900 contracts net while asset managers cut 16,200. Dealer gamma this morning reads positive for SPY by the stored record and negative for QQQ, so the index fund that is falling is the one dealers hedge by selling into weakness. SPY short interest at the 30 September settlement was 98.5 million shares, down 0.8%, two days to cover; this morning's open-interest change for SPY has not yet been published by the vendor. Treasury basis positioning (leveraged short futures against asset-manager long) is 27% of open interest in 10-year equivalents, with too short a history yet for a z-score.

Short-sale share of reported volume against the name's own 20-session mean, at least 15 points above it on a million shares or more. Short-sale volume includes market-maker hedging; a spike marks where selling pressure concentrated, not necessarily new short positions.
Each stock's flow is composed of three layers: the index's, its sector fund's, and its own holders'. The chart counts, by sector, the names the model reads as under upward or downward pressure at the days horizon, each placed with the sector fund whose flow it measurably follows. The ring shows which layer is doing the moving.
Names under directional pressure, by sector45 of 1492 names evaluated
Which layer of flow leadsshare of names under pressure
6 of 45 names under pressure are moving with the index flow rather than anything of their own: they behave as one market position spread across many tickers. The 22 led by their own holders and the 6 led by their sector fund are where the market is differentiating.
At the weeks horizon, 14 names show directional pressure. At days: 45 cleared, 683 with no direction, 745 below the floor.

What it says. Over the 20 sessions to Monday, technology is up 6.6%, health care 2.5% and energy 2.3%; staples, utilities, industrials and discretionary are flat; materials (−2.1%), real estate (−2.8%), communication (−3.1%) and financials (−3.5%) lead the decline. SPY is +4.3% over the span and the equal-weighted S&P +3.4%, so cap-weight has led by about a point. Growth is +5.2% against value −1.4%. Monday's full advance-decline count was 701 up and 640 down of 1,350, a 52% advance share with a net of +61, after a Monday session in which six of the seven sector funds the previous edition listed rose and only technology fell.
The mechanism. A month of rising long rates repriced the rate-sensitive sectors while a small group of large technology companies carried the cap-weighted index; the top ten names' concentration reads 0.132 on the HHI. Monday reversed one piece of that without touching the other: the memory-chip names, which are inside the technology leadership, were sold heavily while the average stock rose. That is a rotation inside the leadership rather than a change of it, and the pre-market has the same shape: the names being sold are the same ones, and the money is showing up in health care, materials and financials, the sectors that report this week.
For today. The model reads 45 of 1,492 names with a directional reading at the days horizon this morning, 683 showing no direction and 745 below the desk floor; at the weeks horizon, 14 names. That is a wider set than yesterday's single name, consistent with a session that has a concentrated flow to read, but still a market mostly waiting on its scheduled events: four large banks before the open and CPI tomorrow.
Sector and index returns from held daily closes. The cap- versus equal-weight tile uses SPY and RSP themselves; the breadth screen's own spread (+4.3% vs +3.4%) is the ten largest constituents weighted two ways, which is why the numbers differ. Advance/decline covers the 1350 names tracked; paler bars are sessions when fewer were.
Events typed from filings and headlines in the last 36 hours, and the tape's answer to recent filings. A typed event is a cause on file; whether the market ratified it shows in the residual move on volume.

Residual z is the move beyond the stock's market and sector betas, in its own daily deviations. 0 8-K filings from companies in the book since 2026-10-10.
Five corporate events were typed overnight: a guidance raise at CME, material contract awards at TotalEnergies, Spotify and Petrobras, a dividend increase at Novo Nordisk, and an adverse regulatory headline at Citigroup hours before its report. None of this morning's movers carries a typed cause: the memory names, SK Hynix, SanDisk, Micron, Western Digital and Seagate, are attached to headlines that describe the selling rather than explain it, and UnitedHealth's rise precedes its report. Among recent filings, 144 are on file with 213 measured report reactions; among them HPE's 30 September filing shows a +9.2% residual against its sector over three sessions. Each linked headline opens its source article.

The SPY surface is from 09:11 UTC: the one-day expiry, Wednesday's, which spans the CPI print, carries 11.7% implied, above the 11.3% at two and three days; the term then falls to 9.5% to 9.6% at six and seven days and rises to 12.2% to 13.0% at 24 to 31 days. The CPI premium has moved into the front expiry and is about 0.4 of a point. One expiry, 21 October, carried a 50.9% quote, more than four times its neighbours, and is left off the chart as a bad quote. Implied correlation could not be measured this cycle: the last measured reading, at 09:41 UTC, was 0.138 implied against 0.148 realised, up from 0.126 and 0.118 yesterday, with index implied 12.9% against a 34.7% weighted constituent implied, which is a market still pricing its names to move separately. The VIX closed Friday at 14.84.
On Monday SPY fell 0.06% to 778.10, QQQ 0.70% and IWM 0.37%, all three inside the implied ranges printed, and both index funds closed below the flips shown. Of the seven sector funds listed, five finished on the side they showed before the open; utilities and staples, shown flat, finished up 0.5% and 1.2%. Of the crowded shorts shown, Eos fell 5.2% and Carvana 6.6%; Canadian Natural rose 1.7%. The memory decliners flagged before the open became the session's heaviest flows.
